History

The congregation of the Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (SABS) was founded on 8th December1908.It is an indigenous religious congregation for women, of Pontifical status belonging to the Syro Malabar Major Archiepiscopal Church. The Congregation took its birth at Champakulam in Kerala. It was the fulfillment of Gods infinite plan revealed through Venerable Mar Thomas Kurialacherry (1873-1925) an ardent devotee of the Holy Eucharist. He got the inspiration that “Our Lord in the Blessed Sarament should always and everywhere be known, loved and adored by all.”He shared this inner urge with Mother Mary Francesca de Chantal (1880-1972) the co-foundress and the first member of the congregation. It has now grown like a mighty tree taking roots in 105 dioceses spread across the globe. At present, the SABS has about 5000 sisters, 19 provinces, and 3 regions and 616 houses.

To share the Eucharistic love with our brethren and to draw all to the Eucharistic Lord, besides the Eucharistic Apostolate, SABS extends their service in the fields of Education, Parish ministry, Healing ministry, Social Apostolate, Press media, Family apostolate and other missionary activities according to the needs of the time and place.
